A set of photo-etched metal parts for the F-15E model in 1:48 scale. Metal in scale thickness takes the place of plastic features that come out of the mold too thick.

A set of photo-etched metal parts for the F-15E model in 1:48 scale. Photo-etching allows a thin sheet feature to be made in a thickness that matches the scale, whereas an injection mold has to make it considerably thicker so that the plastic can be released at all. Which parts the set contains and where they go on the model is listed in the manufacturer's instructions.
The F-15E is the two-seat strike version of the American F-15 combat aircraft. The crew sits in tandem, with the weapon systems officer at the rear. Compared with the older fighter versions the machine received a strengthened structure for use against ground targets, and on the sides of the fuselage it carries conformal fuel tanks, which extend the range without taking up the pylons under the wing.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade against a hard surface, that is against glass or metal, and sand the remains of the tab level with the outline of the part. Cement for polystyrene does not hold on metal; reach for super glue and dose it drop by drop from the tip of a wire, because once it runs out it turns white and such a stain is conspicuous on a smooth surface. Seat the feature dry first and level the area under it on the model, otherwise the edge stands off. Before painting, wash the metal, degrease it with alcohol and spray a primer over it.
The package contains the photo-etched parts only. The kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
