A photo-etched metal set in 1:48 scale for a model of the two-seat F-16D Block 40 fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-16D is the two-seat version of the single-engined F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter. The second seat behind the pilot was fitted in at the expense of internal volume, so the two-seaters differ from the single-seaters in the shape of the cockpit and the canopy. The Block 40 designation belongs to one of the production series; the individual blocks differ from one another in equipment, and so what is visible in the cockpit and on the surface differs too.
Its listing confirms that these are photo-etched metal parts. Photo-etch is used where a plastic part is too thick for the scale, or where a surface is to be well drawn: on instrument panels, belts, grilles and covers. The range of parts and their placement on the model are described in the instructions supplied by the manufacturer, as is which parts are painted before being glued on.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife on a hard surface or with metal shears; never break them out, because a bent part can never be straightened flat again. Make the bends in a bender or between two blades, so that the edge is sharp along its whole length. They are glued with cyanoacrylate applied in a tiny quantity; on larger surfaces it helps to apply the glue with a wooden stick. Before painting, degrease the parts and use a primer intended for metal, or the paint will rub off during handling.
The aircraft kit, the paints and the glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
