A double-sided canopy frame mask for the F-35A: pieces for both sides of the clear cockpit canopy, 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of stencils for the cockpit frame of the F-35A Lightning II in 1:48 scale, in the double-sided form. The pieces cover the outer and the inner side of the clear part, so the frame comes out in the same shade whether the model is viewed from above or from behind through the glazing.
The cockpit of the Lightning II is closed by a single hinged part that lifts forward and up. The usual division into a fixed windscreen and a sliding section is missing, so the whole canopy forms one continuous surface broken only by the front arched brace. The area of the clear part is unusually large as a result and through it the whole ejection seat and the side walls of the cockpit are visible from every view. The real glazing has a golden tint, because it is covered by a conductive layer that reduces reflectivity. That is exactly why it pays on this type to have the frame really clean: an imperfect transition has nowhere to hide.
Fit the inner pieces before the fuselage is closed, while the part is freely accessible. After spraying the inner shade, let the paint dry completely and put no load on the clear part in the meantime. The outer masking comes only with the primer, the camouflage and the matte clear coat. Uncover the finished glazing as the last job on the model.
