This set from the Czech maker CMK is not a kit in its own right but a detail accessory: precisely cast resin wheels meant to replace the plastic parts on models of the Vought F4U Corsair carrier fighter in 1:48 scale. The wheels are done with a smooth solid disc and with a diamond tire tread, a diamond pattern that matches one of the period types of tire. The resin castings offer finer detail than injection-molded plastic.
The Vought F4U Corsair is an American carrier-borne fighter with its characteristic inverted gull wing, used from the Second World War onwards. Corsairs appeared in service with several types of wheels and tire treads, so a correctly chosen variant raises the fidelity of a model.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with a detergent to remove the mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off, clean the surfaces up and protect your airways when sanding resin. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Paint the tires a flat dark gray and the discs according to period photographs.
The set holds resin wheel parts only; it is not a model in its own right and holds neither glue nor paints. A matching base plastic kit is needed to use it.
