Quinta Studio offers cockpit equipment for the early F-4D Phantom II in 1:48 scale, printed in color on a decal base. The name of the set gives resin components as well. Intended for the Academy kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set brings colored cockpit areas printed on decal paper, to which the maker, according to the name, adds resin parts. The applied elements will replace the laborious coloring of instrument panels, side panels and other areas that the modeler would otherwise paint with a brush dial by dial. The target kit is Academy.
This fighter-bomber for the US Air Force grew out of the F-4C type and first flew in December 1965. It was given a different radar and a lead-computing gunsight, so it excelled above all in strikes against ground targets. It lacked an internal gun, and over Vietnam it therefore carried a gun pod under the fuselage. It was F-4D machines that were the first to use laser-guided bombs, which foreshadowed the whole later era of precision bombing.
Level the base and spray it over with gloss varnish with a smooth surface, so that the element does not seat anywhere on a rough area. Release the individual pieces with a brief soak in lukewarm water and move them into place with a brush. Do not use softener or setting solution; the chemistry will damage the printed resin and ruin the element. Once dry, unify the whole area with matte varnish.
The box holds only this accessory; the plastic model is sold separately.
