A combined package of accessories from Artwox Model for a model of the American aircraft carrier USS Lexington CV-2. According to the name it contains a deck part with an adhesive backing, a masking sheet and photo-etched parts. Everything is cut for the Meng PS-002 kit, so compare which release you have at home before you buy.
The flight deck is the longest continuous surface you will meet on a ship model, and that is exactly why it pays not to rush. Peel the protective film off the adhesive layer in sections: uncover only a couple of centimeters at one end, line the part up precisely along the edges and only then pull the film out from under the part step by step, pressing the surface down as you go. If you take the whole film off at once, the part sticks in the first position it lands in, and that is usually crooked.
The plastic under the part has to be flat, degreased and free of dust; an unevenness you would not see on a small part shows up on a long deck as a visible wave. Press the edges and corners down with a toothpick, not with your fingernail. Fit the photo-etched parts from the set only after the deck is finished. Finally, seal the surface with a matte varnish and run any light wash only into the seams so that the whole deck does not turn gray.
This is an accessory for a plastic kit, not a standalone model. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
