F-4G Phantom II late - 3D interior decal (1:48, Quinta Studio)

A raised 3D printed and pre-colored interior decal, not a kit of the aircraft. The set brings raised instrument panels, side panels and further detail into the cockpit of the Phantom F-4G in the late finish - everything is colored already, so laborious coloring in falls away. It is shaped for the F-4G kit in 1:48 scale from the firm Zoukei Mura SWS and it is the small version with a scope aimed at the main panels.

The real subject

The McDonnell Douglas F-4G Wild Weasel was a specialized version of the Phantom II of the US Air Force intended for the suppression of hostile air defense. It carried a system for locating radars and anti-radiation missiles; among other places it was deployed in the Gulf War.

How the 3D decal is used

• Paint the area in the cockpit with a dark base and polish it over with gloss varnish (Future, Klear, Tamiya X-22); the Quinta elements have no adhesive layer of their own and hold precisely on that gloss, a matte ground is a mistake.
• Cut the part out, soak it for about fifteen seconds in lukewarm water and slide it off the carrier decal paper into place; on broken-up areas a drop of super glue will help.
• Do not use a decal softener or a setting solution, their chemistry attacks the printed resin and will destroy the element. The finished interior can be unified with matte varnish at the end.
