F-51 Mustang Korean War, part 1 — decals in 1:48 scale from the manufacturer Print Scale. A water-slide sheet with the markings of piston-engined Mustangs from the Korean conflict of 1950 to 1953.
Responsibility details are not available.
The first part of the decal series devoted to the Mustangs deployed in the Korean War, in 1:48 scale. The water-slide decals make it possible to build a machine from a less frequented and all the more interesting period in the service of the famous type, from the days when a piston-engined fighter was seeing out its career alongside jets.
After the Second World War the P-51 Mustang was redesignated F-51. When war broke out in Korea in 1950, the available Mustangs returned quickly to the front line, no longer as fighters for air combat but above all as ground-attack machines. From Korean bases they made attacks with rockets, napalm and their guns against ground targets, often in difficult terrain and weather. Alongside the US Air Force, other United Nations states deployed them as well; it was hard service and dangerous for the crews, because the radiator of the liquid-cooled engine was vulnerable to ground fire.
Korean Mustangs flew predominantly in natural metal, so polish the base and coat it with gloss, on which the decals will adhere perfectly. Press the water out completely so that no matte patches appear on the metal surface. Once dry, only a fine semi-matte coat is appropriate; the metal machines from Korea tended to be dirtied by gun gases, which calls for discreet weathering.
The decal sheet is a stand-alone accessory; the kit is not included in the package.
