The masking set 1:48 F-82F/G Twin Mustang EXPERT from New Ware: kabuki masks in the higher EXPERT grade for the twin-fuselage night fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory for modelers, not a kit. The set contains cut self-adhesive masks from kabuki paper in 1:48 scale for the F-82F and F-82G Twin Mustang night fighter versions. The EXPERT designation is a higher grade of the New Ware range than BASIC, so the extent of the set tends to be wider. The particular list of masks is given in the instructions in the package.
The Twin Mustang joins two fuselages into one aircraft, so everything that gets masked on it counts twice: two canopies with framing of their own, two sets of landing gear wheels under the fuselages and extensive areas where the paint meets the glazing. On the night versions you are moreover working with a dark, uniform finish, on which every imprecisely cut frame stands out. The higher grade of the set is aimed exactly at the builder who wants masking covered to a wider extent and does not want to cut any part from tape.
Wash the clear parts in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent before sticking the masks on and let them air-dry, because grease from your fingers is the most frequent cause of paint creeping under. Carry the masks with tweezers and press the edges down with a blunt tool. A proven procedure: first the interior shade of the cockpit, then a light coat of the base color and finally the top shade, so that the frame looks like painted metal rather than a sticker. Spray the paint in several thin layers. Take the masks off shortly after the paint has dried, not several days later, when the finish has hardened and the edge may tear.
The set does not contain a model, paints or glue. Before buying, check that the masks match the kit you are building.
