A photo-etched set of accessories for a model of the American jet fighter aircraft F-86F in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The North American F-86 Sabre was an American jet fighter aircraft of the first postwar generation and one of the first production machines with a swept wing. Its use in the Korean War made it the measure by which fighter aircraft were judged at the time: the combats over the north of the peninsula became the first large-scale experience of jet aircraft fighting each other. The F version was the most numerous production form of the whole family and it is therefore also the most usual choice among modelers.
Photo-etched metal parts in 1:48 scale to complete a model of this aircraft. Sheet metal allows thicknesses that a plastic part cannot reach, so thin rims, grilles and small equipment match the scale considerably better. The make-up of the parts and their placement on the model are given in the instructions from the maker of the set.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface and hold them with tweezers. Make the bends against a straight edge or in a bending tool, pressing along the whole length at once. They are glued with cyanoacrylate applied with a pin, as glue for polystyrene will not join metal. Before painting, degrease the surface and lay down a primer. On an aircraft with large glossy areas this pays off twice over, because any unevenness shows at once in the gloss.
For modelers of postwar jet aircraft who want to take a model beyond the contents of the box. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package unless stated otherwise.
