Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker Eduard captures the American carrier fighter Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat in its early production form. Eduard editions are usually richly equipped: besides the plastic parts they normally bring photo-etched parts, painting masks and a decal sheet with several marking options of naval squadrons. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The F4F Wildcat was the main carrier fighter of the US Navy and the Marine Corps in the first years of the war in the Pacific. The F4F-4 version introduced folding wings for more compact stowage on carriers and a heavier armament of six 12.7 mm machine guns. The sturdy, tough airframe could absorb hits, and despite poorer performance against its Japanese opponents it achieved a respectable record thanks to tactics and toughness, among other places in the Battle of Midway.
Finish and paint the cockpit before the fuselage is closed up; photo-etched parts will bring out the belts and the instrument panel. Glue the plastic with thin cement and mask the glazing. A three-tone naval camouflage is typical of the early schemes; apply the paints with an airbrush over a primer. On many builds the folding wingtips can be chosen in the folded or the spread position.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
