Responsibility details are not available.
A set of color 3D decals for detailing the cockpit of the single-seat Vought F4U-1A Corsair carrier fighter from Tamiya in 1:48 scale. The decals are in relief and printed in color, they are glued directly onto the plastic interior parts and they replace the laborious painting of instruments. This is not an aircraft kit but an accessory for a model you buy separately.
The Corsair was among the highest-performing piston fighters of the Second World War. It was powered by the Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp radial engine, and its inverted gull wing became its hallmark; it made it possible to use a large propeller while keeping the landing gear a reasonable height. The F4U-1A version received a raised seat and a revised canopy with a better view forward; it was precisely the poor view on landing that at first kept the aircraft from operating from carrier decks. For a modeler this means that the cockpit of this version is clearly visible with the canopy open and is worth investing in.
Degrease the cockpit parts and rid them of dust; the surface should be smooth. Soak the decal briefly in lukewarm water, let it release and slide it into place, fine-tuning the position with a soft brush and blotting the excess water away. Let it dry thoroughly. Use the softener sparingly, so that the relief presses against the shape of the part without losing its depth. Finish the interior before the fuselage is closed up.
