The set from the Czech manufacturer New Ware offers precisely cut self-adhesive masks in kabuki paper for a model of the Panther in 1:48 scale. The Expert designation means the widest of the levels of extent in the range, that is, the variant with the greatest number of templates. The set itself contains no model; it is an accessory for the painting stage.
The Grumman F9F Panther was the first jet fighter to establish itself in wide production service with the US Navy. A straight wing, simple aerodynamics and rugged construction made it a machine suited to operations from the decks of aircraft carriers as well as to attack duties. The F9F-2 and F9F-3 versions differed above all in the powerplant. Its typical finish is the overall dark blue naval color, on which the cleanness of the transitions is particularly easy to see.
The dark blue naval finish forgives nothing, so it pays to work slowly. Wash the transparent part in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent and let it dry in the air, not with a cloth. Seat the mask dry, press it down with a wooden stick and only then spray. The opaque blue paint is applied in several light coats, otherwise a ridge builds up at the edge of the mask that looks like a step once the mask is lifted. Before the color itself, a thin coat of the base shade of the frame interiors helps, and it also seals the edges of the templates. Lift the mask as soon as the coat has become tacky and is dry to the touch.
This is an accessory for a model, not a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
