The F/A-18A is the single-seat early version of a carrier-based combat aircraft that serves from the decks of aircraft carriers and handles attacks on ground targets as well as combat in the air. The cockpit has extensive instrumentation and, once the model is assembled, more of it stays visible than is usual, because the canopy is large and clear.
These are pre-colored interior elements for the cockpit with a raised relief, listed under the manufacturer's part number QD48277. The instruments, the labels and the structure of the panels are rendered in color straight away, so laborious coloring of tiny details is no longer needed. The film is printed on backing decal paper, from which the elements slide off once soaked. The scope of the set and the layout of the individual elements are given in the instructions in the package; check whether the set fits the kit you are building against the part number QD48277 before ordering.
The elements of the QD line have no adhesive layer of their own. Cut the part out of the sheet, leave it in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds and slide it off the backing paper into place. Do not use a decal softener or setter; they would attack the printed resin. First rid the surfaces of the kit parts the elements will go onto of excess material, true them, degrease them and go over them with gloss varnish, on which the element will grip reliably. Set the element in place and press it down with a blunt tool from the middle toward the edges; on uneven areas a drop of super glue helps. Do not press into the relief with a point, so that the structure is not crushed. The work is done before the fuselage is closed, while there is free access to the cockpit.
The set of interior elements alone is supplied. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
