The cockpit of the first jet carrier fighters is fairly simple, and all the more therefore does every botched detail show in it. The sheet carries the instrument panel, the side consoles, the controls and the harness straps of the seat, finished in color and with relief. The base kit has to be obtained separately.
In the first half of the 1950s the US Navy wanted a machine with a swept wing that would match the opponents of the day. North American therefore reworked its proven land-based fighter: an arrestor hook was added, folding wingtips, a strengthened nose leg for the catapult and four 20 mm cannons instead of machine guns. The result was the Fury type, which even so served mainly with the Marine Corps and flew from carrier decks only to a limited extent, because for the ships of the time it was at the limit of what was possible. On the following version it received a more powerful engine and became more usable; the first series thus remained rather a transitional link between the straight and the swept wing.
First paint the cockpit tub a dark shade, so that places showing through do not spoil the effect. Fit the elements with cutouts over the lugs carefully and without bending. Attach the instrument panel only once the side consoles have dried, otherwise you would shift it while working.
