This is not an aircraft model but a detail accessory from Eduard in 1:48 scale. The set replaces the engine exhausts on a model of the FM-2 Wildcat carrier fighter. The parts are made by direct 3D printing from resin, thanks to which they have finely opened mouths and sharp details that a plastic part from a kit does not offer.

The real subject

The FM-2 Wildcat was a lighter version of the Wildcat carrier fighter with revised performance, built for the US Navy in the later part of the Second World War. The exhausts are among the prominent details on the sides of the fuselage.

Use

• The original plastic exhausts are cut off and replaced with the resin parts.
• The parts are cut from the print supports and cleaned up; they are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate).
• Blackening and accenting the mouths with a wash is recommended for a faithful look.
