Eduard 1:48 Focke-Wulf Fw-190A-5 SPACE is a color interior set of the SPACE range on decal paper for the model of the A-5 version. It is lifted off the moistened backing paper with tweezers.

A set of the SPACE range from the Czech manufacturer Eduard for the model of the Fw 190A-5 fighter in 1:48 scale. The elements printed in color are on decal paper, but they are not transferred onto the model by soaking: only the backing paper is moistened and the element is lifted off it with tweezers. The modeler thus gets a legible interior in color without shading small dials and without bending metal. The plastic model is not included in the package.
The Fw 190A-5 differs from the earlier versions of the A series above all in its lengthened engine mount, which moved the BMW 801 radial engine forward and slightly changed the shape of the forward fuselage. Inside the cockpit the layout stayed close to the earlier machines: a compact instrument panel with the main flight instruments in the middle, the engine instruments to the side and low side consoles around the seat. The cockpit was closed by a sliding canopy with a prominent armored headrest, which once shut covers part of the rear bulkhead; bear that in mind when deciding how much detail is worth working on.
First spray the surfaces under the decal and polish them with a gloss coat, because on a matte surface silvered edges would form under the film. Cut the part out close to the outline and moisten only the backing paper under it, until the element can be moved. Lift it off with tweezers, set it in place and fix it with white PVA glue; a decal softener does not belong on it, because its chemistry attacks the printed resin. Let it dry thoroughly before you handle the model. Paint the rest of the cockpit so that the shade follows on from the printed parts; comparing them in daylight is the surest way. Finally, even the surface out with a matte varnish.
