An injection-molded plastic model of the British Folland Gnat T.1 light jet trainer in 1:48 scale. The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted; it is a classic plastic kit meant to be glued and sprayed. For the exact contents of the box (number of parts, decals, any accessories), follow the enclosed instructions and the markings on the box.
The Folland Gnat was a small single-engine jet with a swept wing. The T.1 version was the two-seat trainer variant with seats in tandem, used by the Royal Air Force (RAF) for advanced pilot training. It is best known for its service with the British Red Arrows display team, which flew these machines from the mid-1960s until the end of the 1970s, when the Hawk replaced them. Power came from a Bristol Siddeley Orpheus jet engine. Thanks to its small size and agility the Gnat was a very rewarding aircraft for display flying and for training alike.
Separate the parts from the sprues with a cutter and clean up the areas sanded after the gate stubs. Finish and paint the cockpit and the landing gear bays before you close the fuselage. Glue the model with a thin plastic cement, then fill and sand the gaps. Spray the base coat over a primer and apply the paint with an airbrush in thin coats; the red Red Arrows scheme and the silver and colorful training finishes are especially striking. Apply the decals over a gloss clear coat and finally unify the whole model with a matte or satin varnish.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
