A set of masking templates from the O-max range from the Omask brand for a model of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 fighter in the A-5 and A-6 versions in 1:48 scale. Both variants belong to the middle period of the development of the famous front-line fighter and are very close to one another in shape, so a single set covers them. The templates will speed the masking work up during spraying and ensure sharp, repeatable results even where cutting masks by hand tempts into inaccuracies and lines of differing width. The target kit is the Eduard one.
The A-5 version differed from its predecessors in a slightly lengthened nose, which improved the balance of the machine as the weight of the equipment grew. The following A-6 was given a redesigned wing with strengthened gun armament. Machines of these versions fought on the western as well as the eastern front and became the basis of a number of specialized modifications for night fighting or attacks on bomber formations. The BMW 801 radial engine gave the type its characteristic blunt nose, whose cowling is a striking dominant feature on a model and deserves special care during painting.
Let the base shades dry out thoroughly before masking. Settle the templates with tweezers and spray perpendicular to the surface, as you will thereby limit paint running under the edges. Once you are finished, take the masks off with a slow, smooth pull.
