An aftermarket set of replacement wheels for the plastic kit of the Soviet GAZ-AAA truck in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit or a model: the parts replace the wheels from the box on the Unimodels kit. A truck stands high and its chassis is not covered by anything, so there is no view from any side in which the wheels can be avoided.
The GAZ-AAA was the three-axle variant of the light Soviet truck, with 6x4 drive and dual wheels on both rear axles. The vehicle served to carry loads and people alike and became a chassis for a whole range of bodies. The wheels with their coarse off-road tread and simple rims are among its most characteristic features - and at the same time they are parts that in kits in a small scale often carry a trace of the parting line of the mold.
First think through how to assemble the dual wheels: both wheels have to sit on a common axis and the gap between them has to stay clean, or the impression of an axle fitted crooked will appear. Wash the parts in warm water with detergent before painting and let them dry. It pays to paint in this order, the tire and then the rim - spray the whole wheel dark gray and paint the rim in with a brush, which is faster than masking a round rim. Once dry, go over the tread with a dry brush in a dust shade and work pigment into the pattern; on the wheels weathering is the most logical and simplest way of bringing a model to life.
