Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the German heavy tank destroyer Elefant in 1:48 scale. In this scale the build is straightforward and the finished model takes up considerably less room in a display case than the usual 1:35, while it keeps the fidelity of shape of a massive subject.
The Elefant grew out of the chassis that Porsche had built for an unsuccessful heavy tank design. On them sat a heavily armored casemate superstructure with a long-barreled 8.8 cm anti-tank gun that could punch through practically anything standing against it at long range. The drive was unusual: the combustion engines did not turn the tracks directly but drove generators, and those fed electric motors. The vehicles first committed at Kursk lacked a machine gun for close defense, which cost them dearly, and so they were rebuilt. It is exactly the rebuilt form with a machine gun in the front of the superstructure and a commander's cupola that carries the designation Elefant, and it fought in Italy.
Finish and paint the running gear before you attach the side skirts. The long gun barrel catches the eye most, so clean the parting seam off it carefully. Late German camouflage takes color modulation on the large areas of the superstructure, a strong wash into the recesses and earthy pigments on the tracks. Do not forget that the Elefant had a machine gun in the front of the superstructure, unlike the original version.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
