Hauler 1:48 German carrier pigeons is a small diorama accessory in 1:48 scale for finishing off a scene, not a kit of military equipment.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of small diorama elements on the theme of German army carrier pigeons in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit, nor an accessory to one particular model of a vehicle or an aircraft, but separate details for a scene. They will come into their own at a signals post, in the back area of a field airfield or as a small accent beside figures.
The German army kept a pigeon post of its own as early as the First World War and carried it on in the Second. A pigeon was a cheap and hardy backup means of communication that needed neither electricity nor a frequency and could not be jammed. It was used with field units, at observation posts and wherever radio silence had to be kept. The animals were carried in wicker baskets and wooden cages, and the message was fastened to a leg in a small container. In a diorama a pigeon will therefore credibly fill out a scene of signalers, a staff or a rear-area post.
Choose your procedure according to the material of the parts: photo-etch is cut out of the fret with a scalpel, resin castings are cut off the casting block with a saw and then washed in water with detergent to remove the remains of the mold release agent. A thin primer follows. With birds, painting from a darker base toward lighter edges works well; bring out the wings and the back by drybrushing and leave the underside of the belly lighter. Choose muted colors, as saturated shades look toylike in a small scale. Then settle the element into the base so that it follows on from the terrain, and unify the surroundings with fine dust pigment.
This is a diorama accessory, not a model. The base, the figures, glue and paints are not included in the package.
