Photo-etched metal parts for a model of the Grumman F3F-2 carrier biplane in 1:48 scale. They add to a model the elements that cannot be made in plastic.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Grumman F3F was the last biplane fighter of the US Navy and a farewell to the era when a carrier fighter still carried two lifting surfaces. Its stubby fuselage with a radial engine was complemented by retractable landing gear that folded into the sides of the fuselage, which was a striking feature in the age of biplanes. The F3F-2 version received a more powerful engine and a slightly modified nose cowling against the first form. For a modeler it is a rewarding subject: the machine has a bold silhouette, a richly detailed surface and, in the colorful prewar markings of the Navy, it is impossible to miss on a shelf.
Photo-etched parts of thin metal sheet for an F3F-2 model in 1:48 scale. Photo-etch in metal allows elements to be made for which plastic is too thick: belt fittings and buckles, plates, gratings, small levers and faces with fine relief. The individual parts are held on the carrier sheet by small tabs from which they are cut. The extent of the set, the position of the parts and the kit the set is cut for are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Cut them off with a sharp blade on a hard surface and true the remains of the tab with a fine file. Make the bends in a bending tool or over the edge of a steel ruler. Use super glue or two-part epoxy for bonding, always in minute drops. With a biplane it pays to plan the order of work in advance: whatever is inside the fuselage has to be finished and painted before it is closed up and the upper wing is fitted. Wash, degrease and prime the metal before painting.
The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
