The TFace masking set for the Grumman F6F-5 Hellcat in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Eduard holds die-cut masks for the outer and the inner side of the glazing.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a kit but a masking set in the TFace version. The masks are die-cut separately for the outer and separately for the inner side of the glazing, so that you can spray the frame of the canopy and of the windscreen from both sides while the glass stays clean.
The canopy of a fighter has a divided framing and modelers often build it in the open position, so that the interior shows. Once the canopy is slid back, the viewer looks straight at its inner side. When only the outside is masked, the inside of the frame stays the color of the clear plastic, and the difference is conspicuous precisely on a model where you have put work into the cockpit. The TFace set solves that in advance and without cutting a second set of masks by hand.
Work one side at a time. First stick on and spray the inner masks in the interior color, let them dry and only then do the outside in the airframe color. Degrease the glazing before each step, because a mask does not hold on a greasy surface. Press the masks down around the perimeter, and in the corners of the frames especially carefully. Lay the paint on in thin coats. Peel the mask off while the paint has only just dried, because after longer curing a piece of the frame can come away with it. Glue the clear parts with a canopy glue.
This is an accessory for a plastic kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
