Eduard 1:48 Grumman FM-1 Wildcat landing flaps is a photo-etched set of landing flaps for a model of the Wildcat in 1:48 scale. It replaces the plastic flaps with fine metal parts and allows them to be displayed lowered.

The set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard contains photo-etched metal parts for the landing flaps of the Wildcat in 1:48 scale. Photo-etched metal is thinner than injection-molded plastic by an order of magnitude, so the flap has a realistic thickness of the trailing edge and the real internal structure, which the plastic part only suggests, is to be seen on it. The set is intended for the model you are building at the moment and replaces the plastic parts of the wing on it.
Why it pays to lower the flaps
A parked machine, or one that has just landed, with the flaps lowered has a far more lively effect in a display case than a model with everything retracted. An open flap also reveals a piece of the inside of the wing, which is exactly the place where fine photo-etched metal is best seen.
The FM-1 is the Wildcat that the Eastern Aircraft division of the General Motors corporation manufactured to the Grumman F4F-4 type. It differed from the original machine mainly in its armament: instead of six machine guns of 12.7 mm caliber it carried four, thanks to which more ammunition fell to each barrel. The machines came into their own above all from escort carriers, where a short takeoff run and folding wings were valued. The Fleet Air Arm operated similar aircraft under the designation Martlet Mk.V.
Degrease the photo-etched parts first, make the bends in a bender or on a hard straight edge and rather in two stages, so that the metal does not crack. They hold with cyanoacrylate glue applied in the smallest amount, and on flat joints a two-part epoxy glue helps as well, as it gives time for lining them up. Before painting, a primer meant for metal surfaces pays off on metal, otherwise acrylic adheres poorly.
