The Eduard LööKplus 1:48 Grumman FM-1 Wildcat set of add-ons is meant for a model of the carrier-based Wildcat fighter. It is not a kit but an add-on for one.
Responsibility details are not available.
A package from the LööKplus range brings together Eduard add-ons meant for one particular model. The core of the LööK range is worked-out cockpit detail, and a package with the plus suffix adds further sets to it. The particular make-up of this package is given by the manufacturer on the packaging. The model of the aircraft is not part of it.
The Wildcat was the main carrier-based fighter of the US Navy in the first years of the war in the Pacific. The FM-1 designation belongs to the machines built to the Grumman design by the Eastern Aircraft division of General Motors, so that Grumman could concentrate on producing Hellcats. Against the six-gun armament of the F4F-4 version the FM-1 had four machine guns and more ammunition, which proved its worth mainly on operations from small escort carriers. The result is a stocky, rugged aircraft with manually retracted landing gear and a folding wing.
The Wildcat's cockpit is fairly cramped, but it can be seen into through the framed canopy, so detail pays off. Fit the metal parts before you close the fuselage up. Do not varnish the color printed parts; degrease bare brass etching and give it a primer. Use cyanoacrylate glue in the smallest amount for fitting, and on small parts transfer it on a pin or a toothpick.
The set adds to a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
