The Eduard 1:48 Grumman FM-2 US national insignia masks serve for spraying American national insignia instead of decals. It is an add-on for painting, not a kit.

This set of pre-cut masks makes it possible to spray the American national insignia on an FM-2 model in 1:48 scale rather than to apply them as decals. The result is noticeably different: you have no carrier film that shines or silvers under the clear coat, and the marking looks like part of the paint. It is not an airplane model or a decal sheet but a masking add-on for the painting stage. Behind the set stands Eduard, the Czech manufacturer of modeling accessories.
The FM-2 was the final and most widespread version of the Wildcat carrier fighter. It was produced in series by the Eastern Aircraft division of General Motors, while the original design came from the Grumman company, which is why both names are commonly used for the type. Against the earlier Wildcats the FM-2 received a lightened airframe, a more powerful Wright Cyclone radial engine and a taller fin. Thanks to its short takeoff it served mainly from the decks of escort carriers.
Work from the back: first spray the base dark or white surface of the marking, let it dry thoroughly and only then lay on the mask for the next color. Press the edges of the mask down so that no paint runs underneath, and spray thinly and perpendicular to the surface, not at an angle to the edge. The surface under the mask has to be smooth and dry; on fresh paint a mask sticks and pulls the paint off when removed. Once finished, it pays to blend the whole model with a clear coat, so that the sprayed markings have the same sheen as the surrounding area.
The set is an add-on for painting a model. It does not contain the kit, paints or decals.
