It captures the version with an enclosed cabin, a form that differs markedly from the best-known glazed bubble with an open-truss tail boom. LF Models is a Czech manufacturer focused on types the big brands do not offer, and this machine falls into exactly that category.
H-13J and HUL-1 are the military designations of the civil light helicopter of the Bell 47 family in the form with an enclosed four-seat cabin. The H-13J was used by the US Air Force among other things for carrying distinguished passengers, while the HUL-1 served with the US Navy. In design it is a simple machine with a piston engine and a two-blade main rotor, which in the 1950s and 1960s found use in liaison, transport and rescue roles.
With a short-run kit count on the parts needing more work by hand than those of a mainstream kit. Try everything dry first, sand the mating surfaces as needed and glue in small steps. The cabin glazing is the dominant element on this type: it pays to mask it carefully and to paint the frame in two steps, first in the interior shade and then in the outer one. Leave the rotor system and the tail section for the end so that they do not break while you handle the model. Apply a gloss clear coat before the decals.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
