Montex 1:48 – a masking set for the Curtiss H-75 Hawk fighter in the version for the outer as well as the inner side of the glazing. The templates are cut for the Clear Prop kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
Templates for painting the cockpit frames of the export version of the Hawk. The name gives the version for the outside as well as the inside, so the cockpit can be tuned from both views. The item serves as an accessory to a build and contains no parts of the model itself. The shapes of the templates derive from the glazing of the Clear Prop kit.
The Curtiss H-75 Hawk was the export form of the American P-36 fighter. It was an all-metal low-wing monoplane with a radial engine and retractable landing gear that folded by rotating into the wing. It lived its best-known chapter in the French Air Force in 1940, where despite its lower power it proved an agile and tough opponent and its pilots achieved surprisingly good results. Further machines served in Britain under the name Mohawk and in Finland, where they flew long after the fighting began. The Hawk is thus a machine with a varied history across several air arms.
French schemes from 1940 have soft transitions between the shades – those are done freehand or over a raised mask, not against a laid-down edge. The templates from this set are therefore used mainly on the cockpit, while the camouflage is created separately. Apply the shades from the lightest to the darkest.
