A photo-etched add-on set for a model of the Hawker Hurricane Mk.I aircraft in 1:48 scale. The parts in thin metal sheet carry detail that plastic cannot.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Hawker Hurricane Mk.I was a British fighter aircraft of a fairly old-world design: the fuselage was a tube frame covered with fabric, which meant a damaged machine could be repaired at the airfield itself. It was powered by a liquid-cooled Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 and its armament was eight 7.7 mm machine guns housed in the wing. During the Battle of Britain the Hurricanes made up a larger part of the fighter defense than the more famous Spitfires.
It is a photo-etched set for a model of the Hurricane Mk.I in 1:48 scale. Photo-etched parts are made from thin metal sheet, so compared with plastic they have the right thickness, sharp edges and fine relief. The manufacturer's instructions state which parts the set holds and where they go on the model; read them before you start gluing the fuselage, because some of the photo-etch is usually fitted into the internal spaces.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not with sprue cutters, or the sheet will buckle. Make the bends in an etch bender or between two blades, always along the whole length at once and in a single step, because repeated bending softens the sheet and it breaks. It is glued with super glue applied with the tip of a wire; any excess is hard to remove from metal. Before painting, degrease the sheet and use a primer, otherwise the finish will chip off while you handle the model. Leave the smallest parts for the end of the build, as they are the most vulnerable.
The aircraft kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
