Eduard 1:48 He 111H-16 is a set of pre-cut masking templates for a model of the Heinkel He 111H-16 bomber that dramatically speeds up painting the extensive glazing.

This is not an aircraft kit but a masking set in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. The templates are cut from thin masking paper with a slightly rubbery adhesive that holds well, follows curves accurately and leaves no residue on the clear parts once removed. On the He 111 that is of exceptional value, because the glazed nose of this bomber is divided into dozens of small panes, and taping them by hand takes several hours.
The masks are peeled off the sheet, laid on the glazing and pressed into the engraving with a toothpick or a wooden stick. The edges of the frames are then sharp and straight, with no paint seeping under the tape and no laborious trimming with a knife directly on the model. Templates in sets of this type are usually accompanied by masks for the wheels, which makes it easier to separate the tire from the rim.
The Heinkel He 111 was a German twin-engine bomber that entered service in the second half of the 1930s and served throughout the Second World War. The H-16 version was one of the later versions of the H series and had strengthened defensive armament. The characteristic fully glazed nose without a separate pilot's compartment is the most conspicuous recognition feature of this type.
Degrease the glazing before masking, because a mask will not hold on a greasy surface. Move the masks with tweezers and press them down from the center toward the edges. Before the color coat it is worth spraying a thin layer of the interior shade or of varnish, which seals the edges of the mask, and only then spraying the camouflage color. Remove the masks while the paint is still fresh, using the tip of a scalpel or a toothpick, so that the clear part does not get scratched.
This is an accessory for building the model, not a standalone kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
