About product

I-153 engine cooling gills (1:48) - a photo-etched set

This is a photo-etched detail set in thin sheet metal, not a model of the aircraft. It serves to replace the coarsely molded plastic engine cooling gills with accurate and thin metal parts on the I-153 biplane in 1:48 scale.

What the set is for

The cooling flaps of the radial engine are among the prominent visible features on the I-153. The photo-etched parts have a realistic thickness, sharp edges and a fine relief that a plastic molding cannot capture. The result is a more faithful front section of the fuselage and engine bay.

Usage tips

Separate the parts from the fret carefully, degrease them and form them in a bender or over a suitable template. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, and epoxy can be used for larger areas. Before painting we recommend a primer for metal.

Who the set is for

  • Modelers who want to raise the detail of the I-153 engine section
  • More experienced builders used to working with photo-etch
  • Builds in 1:48 scale aimed at maximum fidelity

This is not a model of an aircraft but an accessory photo-etched set. The base kit and paints are not included in the package.

FAQ

No. It is a photo-etched detail set of engine cooling flaps that you add to your I-153 model under construction in 1:48 scale.

Best with cyanoacrylate glue; epoxy can be used for larger areas.

Working with photo-etch calls for a certain dexterity and tools (tweezers, a bender), so we recommend it rather to more advanced modelers.
