A set of resin barrels for the Soviet Ilyushin Il-2M Shturmovik ground-attack aircraft in 1:48 scale from Quickboost. It is not an airplane model but an exactly cast detail part that will replace the wing barrels from the base kit with a sharper rendering with accurate muzzles.
The Il-2 Shturmovik was the famous Soviet ground-attack aircraft of the Second World War, heavily armored and sent against ground targets. Its fixed armament in the wings consisted of a pair of 23 mm cannon supplemented by machine guns. The barrels projecting from the wing leading edge are conspicuous, but in injection-molded plastic they tend to be too thick or to have closed muzzles. The resin replacements offer a more accurate diameter and finely suggested muzzles.
These are small and fragile parts: wash them to remove mold release residue, separate them from the casting block carefully and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate); protect your airways while sanding. Paint the barrels in a dark metallic shade such as burnt steel and, because of their exposed position, fit them at the very end of the build.
The part is supplied as a resin accessory, unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
