This is an accessory set in 1:48 scale, not a kit of the vehicle. It completes a model of the German Jagdpanther tank destroyer with stowage, kit and the small things that turn a smooth hull into a machine in the field. It is made by the Czech label Black Dog, long aimed at accessories for models of military equipment. In the smaller 1:48 scale such accessories carry great weight: the model is smaller, and so every detail added to it works more strongly.
The Jagdpanther came about by joining two proven elements: the chassis of the Panther tank and the long 88 mm anti-tank gun. The result was a low, well-armored tank destroyer with the sloped walls of a fighting compartment, which could destroy Allied tanks at great distances. It reached service in 1944 and only a few hundred were built, so it turned up by single companies rather than in mass use. It is precisely the combination of a powerful weapon, good shaping of the armor and the small number built that made it one of the most popular modeling subjects of German equipment.
The large smooth surfaces of the hull simply ask for stowage. Place it so that it does not break up the clean line of the fighting compartment but does break the monotony of the upper surfaces. It pays to set canvas, wood and metal apart, to lighten the edges gently and to let dust settle in the corners around the superstructure and the fenders.
