A masking set in 1:48 scale for the British interceptor Gloster Javelin.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Gloster Javelin is a British twin-engine interceptor of the 1950s. What makes it unmistakable is the combination of a massive delta wing with a horizontal tail surface set high on top of the fin, which is not usual on machines with a delta wing. It flew as an all-weather machine with a crew of two and with radar in the nose, and it served the Royal Air Force until the end of the 1960s.
The masks cover the surfaces that are to stay clean after the paint is sprayed, above all the glazing of the cabin. On the Javelin it is a fairly intricate canopy with several frames, so painting by hand with a brush takes a lot of time here and seldom comes out sharp. The individual parts are cut to the shape of the parts of the given scale, so the measuring out and cutting of tape directly on the model is done away with.
Stick the masks onto a clean, dry and degreased surface, always before spraying. Press the edges down with a blunt point, so that paint does not run under them. Spray several thin coats instead of one thick one, otherwise a ridge forms at the edge of the mask which stays visible even after it is taken off. Take the mask off soon after the paint has gone tacky, while the coat is still flexible, and lift it with the tip of a sharp blade.
A kit, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
