Pre-cut painting masks for the Junkers Ju 87D-3 model in 1:48 scale. The set covers the glazing of the two-seat cockpit while spraying, so that the framing stays sharp and even. It is not a kit or a finished model but an accessory for painting. The double-sided version means that the sheet contains masks for the outer and the inner side of the glazing, which pays off especially on this type with its long greenhouse. The masks are cut for the Hasegawa and Hobby2000 kits.
Degrease the clear part first and let it dry. Take the masks out of the sheet with the tip of a scalpel, lay them on the frame and press them down with a wooden toothpick so that the edge does not stand away anywhere. Trim any overhang past the edge of the part with a fresh blade exactly along the outline. Cover the surrounding areas with tape. Lay the paint on in thin coats and let it flash off in between; a heavy coat will run under the edge of the mask. Lift the mask as soon as the paint is dry to the touch, pulling it back at an angle over itself. With a double-sided set, spray the inner side in the interior shade first and the outside only afterward.
The Junkers Ju 87 was a German single-engine dive bomber used during the Second World War. The D version was given an aerodynamically cleaner nose and a more powerful Jumo 211 engine, and the D-3 subversion was adapted for attacks on ground targets and had strengthened armor. The two-seat cockpit is covered by a long canopy with a great many small frames, and masking them by hand is one of the most tedious jobs on the model.
The mask is an accessory, not a kit. The model, paints, glue and thinners are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
