This is a supplementary set of metal tracks, not a model of the vehicle. It holds individual links cast in white metal, which are joined with wire pins into a fully workable track. It replaces the plastic tracks supplied in the base kit of the Soviet heavy tanks KV-1 and KV-2 in 1:48 scale; this is the lighter type of track link.
The KV-1 and the KV-2 were Soviet heavy tanks of the start of the Second World War. The KV-1 carried a 76 mm gun and heavy armor, while the KV-2 had a tall boxy turret with a 152 mm howitzer meant for destroying fortifications. Both vehicles share the basic running gear to which this set of links belongs.
In 1:48 scale the links are smaller — work calmly and in a well-lit space. Clean off the casting remains, lay the links out one behind another and thread through the wire pins. The track can be left workable, or tacked in place with super glue. Spraying a primer for metal improves the grip of the paint, and the weight of the links creates a realistic sag.
A supplementary set — it does not hold the model of the vehicle, glue or paints. Meant as an upgrade to a separately bought kit.
