A set of photo-etched parts in 1:48 scale for a model of the Soviet La-5FN fighter. Metal sheet brings the detail that plastic is too thick for.
Responsibility details are not available.
The La-5FN is a Soviet single-engined fighter of the Second World War. It came about by reworking an earlier machine around an air-cooled radial engine, which it carries in a short, bulky nose. The airframe was largely wooden, because aluminum was in short supply in Soviet wartime production. The FN version received an engine with direct fuel injection and with it markedly better performance at low and medium altitudes, that is exactly where the fighting on the Eastern Front usually took place. It was therefore among the most successful Soviet fighters of the second half of the war.
This is a set of photo-etched parts in 1:48 scale. Photo-etch is made from thin metal sheet, so it can handle elements that in plastic are necessarily thicker than they would be in reality. The range of parts, their placement on the model and the kit they are cut for are given in the instructions enclosed by the manufacturer.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface and level off what is left after separation with a fine file. Make the bends along the pressed grooves, ideally in a bending tool or between the jaws of flat tweezers, and work in small steps so that the sheet does not kink. Cement for polystyrene will not join metal; use cyanoacrylate glue or epoxy in a minute amount. Before painting, wash and degrease the sheet and put a base coat on it; paint will not hold on bare smooth metal.
The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
