1:48 light guard frames for the HMMWV is a photo-etched accessory set for a kit you have already bought, not a model of the vehicle in its own right. It replaces the simplified plastic light covers with fine metal parts of a real thickness. Intended for the Tamiya kit.

The set holds photo-etched parts of thin sheet which on a model of the American HMMWV military cross-country vehicle replace the coarsely molded plastic headlight covers. It is an aftermarket accessory from the Czech maker Hauler, meant for a model that the modeler buys separately. The package holds no plastic parts of the vehicle and nothing from which a model could be built. The target kit is Tamiya.
The protective frames of the lights on real vehicles are made of thin mesh or a wire cage. Injection-molded plastic cannot render such a thickness faithfully, because a mold needs a certain minimum of material and mesh comes out of it as a solid block with the pattern engraved. Photo-etched sheet is a fraction of a millimeter thick, so you can see through the mesh and the headlight behind it keeps its depth. In 1:48 scale this difference is visible on a finished model at first glance, even without macro photography.
Separate the parts with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface, and never break them out, or they will bend. Before bending, degrease the photo-etch with alcohol or detergent, so that the primer holds later. Make the bends in a photo-etch bender or between two razor blades, and finish sharp corners with pressure on the edge. Harder brass can be annealed briefly over a flame so that it softens and does not crack when bent. It is bonded with super glue applied in a minimal amount, ideally on the tip of a piece of wire. Before painting, use a primer meant for metal, because paint comes away from smooth sheet even during ordinary handling.
This is an accessory set, not a kit of the vehicle. The Tamiya base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
