The scene from the Dynamo-Models figure range for 1:48 scale carries the name Little Boy With Snowman and belongs among the civilian motifs the manufacturer places alongside its military figures. It is a diorama accessory, not a kit of a machine. In the same scale the range also offers further civilian figures and winter subjects, so the scene can be extended further.
A winter diorama is among the most rewarding and the most demanding of scenes: a white area forgives no mistakes, but at the same time it gives a view its mood and its setting in time at once. A child figure with a snowman is a typical civilian motif that works in a scene as a counterweight to military vehicles or as a wholly separate view without them. It is precisely the contrast between ordinary children's play and a wartime background that is popular in modeling work, because it gives a scene narrative tension without a single shot.
If you paint the scene, wash it first in lukewarm water with detergent and let it dry thoroughly. Do not paint the snow in pure white; an undercoat in a broken shade with blue-gray shading looks more convincing, and white should be left only on the most brightly lit areas. Children's clothing can take a more saturated color than a military uniform, and against a white background it comes out well. Finish the skin of the face and the hands only at the end, when you already know how the scene reflects light from the snow.
