A set of photo-etched parts in 1:48 scale for a model of the F-35B combat aircraft. Thin metal replaces places where a plastic part is too thick.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-35B is the version of the single-seat fifth-generation combat aircraft that can take off from a short runway and land vertically. It is set apart by a lift fan housed behind the cockpit under hinged doors and by a propulsion outlet that swivels downward; in normal flight both are covered. The shapes of the airframe are led so that the aircraft reflects radar waves as little as possible, so the surface is smooth and the access panels have characteristic serrated edges.
The set contains parts etched from thin metal sheet. A photo-etched part can be as thin as the scale would require, which cannot be achieved with injection-molded plastic because of rigidity. It comes into its own where the real subject has a thin wall, a strap or a grille. The extent of the parts and their placement on the model are given in the instructions supplied by the manufacturer.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface and level the remains of the tab with a fine file. Make the bends in the marked groove over a straight edge or in a bending tool, always in one movement. You will join the metal with super glue, and with epoxy on larger areas; cement for polystyrene does not hold on it. Before painting, wash the sheet, degrease it and lay a primer under the paint, otherwise the paint will not hold on smooth metal.
The kit, paints, glue and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
