Armycast 1:48 Luftwaffe Balkenkreuze late – part III is a set of self-adhesive masks for spraying the late German national crosses onto aircraft models in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
Die-cut self-adhesive masks for spraying the late variants of the German national crosses, the so-called Balkenkreuz, onto aircraft models in 1:48 scale. It is neither a decal nor a kit: the marking is created directly by spraying paint, so it is part of the finish and carries no clear film. The three in the name denotes a further part of the line, which supplements the earlier sheets with different sizes and renderings.
A marking sprayed through a mask has no glossy rim of carrier film and runs no risk of silvering, which appears when a decal settles on an insufficiently glossy surface. On the large areas of a wing and fuselage that shows most. The modeler also mixes the color of the cross himself, so both the white and the black component match the rest of the camouflage, and the aging of the finish can be carried out by the same method as on the surrounding surface.
The base has to be cured, smooth and degreased. Press the edges of the mask down with a toothpick so that no paint creeps under, and spray several thin coats instead of one generous one. With multicolor crosses work from the light component to the dark one, with thorough drying between the steps. Lift the mask off shortly after the paint is touch-dry with tweezers, pulling at a sharp angle to the surface. Wipe off any glue residue with a cotton swab lightly moistened with water.
The package holds masks only. The model, paints and varnish are not included. These are the national insignia of period equipment from the Second World War; the set serves for the historically faithful completion of a model.
