The New Ware 1:48 A-7D/E Corsair II ADVANCED mask set is a self-adhesive cut mask for spraying the glazing and other surfaces of a model. The extended ADVANCED form is aimed at modelers for whom the basic extent is not enough.

This is neither a kit nor a part of a model, but a modeling aid. New Ware, a Czech manufacturer of cut masks, supplies the set as precisely shaped self-adhesive parts on a backing film. They are applied to the model, the surface is sprayed over and, once the mask is off, a clean, crisply bounded shape is left underneath. The ADVANCED form is wider than the basic version and is meant for a build where the modeler wants to solve parts beyond the main canopy with masks as well.
The frames of a canopy can be painted over with a brush, but a line drawn by hand tends to be uneven in width and the paint ripples. A strip of adhesive tape cut to size, in turn, makes steps on curved shapes. A cut mask respects the actual geometry of the part, so the frame has the same width along its whole length and lies in the same plane as the surrounding surface. The glazing under the mask stays clear, with no paint residue and no matte smears from thinner.
First degrease the glazing and let it dry completely. Lift the masks off the backing film with tweezers or the tip of a scalpel, lay them on dry, tap them down with a soft wooden stick and press the edges down firmly, so that paint does not creep underneath. Spray in thin coats and rather square to the surface, not at an angle under the edge of the mask. Take the mask off while the paint is freshly dry, not after several days, when the finish holds on more firmly. Keep the rest of the sheet with the unused parts flat in an envelope, away from light.
The package holds only the mask set. A kit, paints and glue are not part of it.
