It serves to have the markings sprayed in paint directly onto the surface of the model instead of using decals. The package contains masks only, no parts and no decals. The masks are cut for the ICM 48245 kit.
A decal lies on the surface as a thin film. On a matte or textured camouflage the edge of the carrier film gives itself away with a glossy frame, and over engraved lines a decal often cannot be settled without wrinkling. Sprayed insignia do not have this problem — the paint is part of the coat, it follows the surface and the panel lines, and once a matte coat is laid over it, it is optically indistinguishable from the surrounding area. The benefit shows mainly on the large areas of the wing and the fuselage.
For modelers who want the markings sprayed and want to avoid decal silvering, and for those building a model with a heavily weathered or matte surface, where decals settle worst.
The package contains masks only. The kit, paints, decals and glue are not included in the package.
