Intake covers for the model of the aircraft McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II in 1:48 scale, intended for the Hasegawa kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
As soon as a Phantom shuts down its engines and sits on the apron, ground crews fit covers over the intakes. The reason is simple: nothing should be able to fall into an open intake, since even a small object sucked in at the next start-up can destroy the engine. The covers are therefore usually brightly colored, so they are not forgotten before flight, and they belong on a parked aircraft just as naturally as chocks under the wheels.
The package provides intake covers in 1:48 scale for the F-4 Phantom II model, shaped to fit the Hasegawa kit. On the model, they cover the empty intakes, so there is no need to detail the ducts all the way to the engines, and they add operational realism to the scene around the aircraft.
The set belongs with Phantom models parked on the apron, in dioramas with ground crew, and with display models where it should be clear the aircraft is not about to fly anywhere. Check the fit against the manufacturer's instructions.
Only the covers as described are supplied. The aircraft kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
