The Eduard 1:48 Messerschmitt Bf 109G-10 Erla photo-etched set is an add-on set of photo-etched metal for a kit you already own, not an aircraft model. It adds fine metal parts where injection-molded plastic is necessarily simplified.

Although the name gives only the aircraft type, this is an add-on set of photo-etched metal in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker Eduard, not a kit. The set is used on a plastic model you already own and replaces its simplified shapes with thin metal parts. Photo-etch is the ideal material for this purpose: at a thickness of a few tenths of a millimeter it holds a sharp edge and faithfully captures the sheet metal stiffeners, panels and small controls that cannot be molded into plastic.
The Bf 109G-10 was a late production variant of the Messerschmitt fighter with a more powerful engine of the DB 605 series and revised cowling. It was built at several plants, among them the Erla works, after which the designation of the characteristic cockpit canopy with its good view became established in modeling. The G-10 version is among the types with the lowest aerodynamic drag of the whole series, and in modeling practice it is distinguished above all by details of the cowling, the cockpit and the undercarriage covers.
Before any handling, degrease the brass fret with alcohol, as fingerprints prevent paint from adhering. Separate the parts with a sharp scalpel against a hard surface and clean up the severed places with a file. Meter the superglue in minimal amounts; excess creeps between the parts and clogs the detail. Apply a thin primer before painting, ideally sprayed. Metal surfaces on a finished model look convincing when they are completed with a fine wash into the hollows and careful wiping of the edges, where the finish would have been worn away in service.
The set is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The model, glue, paints and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
