An inner engine set for the MH-53E Sea Dragon in 1:48 scale from Black Dog is the counterpart to the package for the outer powerplant.
Responsibility details are not available.
The counterpart to the set aimed at the outer powerplant. The manufacturer treats both positions separately, so the builder can choose which part to expose on the model, or use both and give the powerplant section attention across its full width.
The naval Sea Dragon came about as a specialized tool for finding and destroying mines, a task no other helicopter carries out. To be able to tow heavy mine countermeasures gear for hours on end, it was given more fuel and a stronger powerplant than its land-based relatives. It flew from the decks of large ships and from coastal bases, and its profile with the high tail boom and the canted tail rotor cannot be mistaken for anything else.
Find out in advance whether you will also need the opposite package, because the decision affects how much of the fuselage you open up. Prepare and paint the inner areas separately and only then fit them in. If you plan the model as part of a larger scene, leave room for ground personnel or a stand as well, otherwise the viewer's eye will not reach the exposed place. Prepare the contact surfaces calmly and dry so that you know how much room the assembly takes up; widening the opening afterward on a finished model is unpleasant work. Even the boundary between the accessory and its surroundings out with a thin layer of primer, and only then paint. That creates a point on the fuselage the viewer's eye will head for by itself.
You will find the helicopter itself elsewhere; this item follows on from it.
