A set of photo-etched metal parts in 1:48 scale for a model of the Mi-17 transport helicopter. It replaces coarser plastic features with detail of a realistic thickness.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Mi-17 is a twin-engined transport helicopter derived from the proven Mi-8 series. It serves to carry people and cargo and has spread to dozens of countries in armed and civil service. It is a machine with a roomy cargo cabin that offers large areas on a model and with them many places where detail shows.
This is a fret of photo-etched metal parts in 1:48 scale, intended to complete a plastic Mi-17 kit. Photo-etch serves for features that would come out absurdly thick in plastic: flat details, grilles, straps, covers and parts with a sharp edge. The list of parts, their placement on the model and the kit the set is designed for are in the enclosed instructions.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade against a hard surface, not by twisting, otherwise the thin metal buckles. Make the bends in a photo-etch bending tool or over the edge of a steel rule, pressing along the whole length at once. Bond the metal with cyanoacrylate or a two-part glue, as cement for polystyrene will not join it. Before painting, wash and degrease the parts and apply a thin coat of primer. On a helicopter it pays to plan the order of work in advance, because some places cannot be reached once the fuselage is glued together.
The kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
