A 3D-printed set of replacement surface texture from the Czech manufacturer Eduard, intended for detailing the Mi-24D attack helicopter in 1:48 scale. It holds raised rivets and other fine surface details, which are applied to the fuselage and the surfaces of the model. It is neither a kit nor a model; it is an accessory that replaces the flat or merely suggested riveting of a kit with a faithful, raised surface.

What raised rivets 3D parts are

The real Mi-24 has rivets that stand out above the surface. Making them by hand in their hundreds all the same size is practically unworkable: a riveting wheel only makes pressed-in dimples, that is negative rivets, and dotting with glue comes out uneven. This set brings 3D-printed raised rivets and surface texture of identical height and spacing; all you have to do is apply them in the right place. The set was developed for Mi-24D kits from the brands Zvezda and Eduard.

Use

• The item is applied the wet way, like a decal: a few seconds in lukewarm water, then settled with tweezers
• Apply it on a finished, painted and ideally glossy surface
• Adhesion can be helped with a drop of gloss varnish; do not use aggressive softeners
• Once dry, the area can be varnished and weathered, and the rivets then blend into the surface
