An injection-molded plastic kit of the MiG-17F jet fighter in the Chinese license-built Shenyang J-5 form, in 1:48 scale from AMMO of Mig Jimenez. It is a completely new, exclusive tooling with modern surface engraving. The package contains photo-etched parts, a detailed interior of the afterburner exhaust, a finely rendered landing gear, movable flaps and airbrakes, auxiliary fuel tanks and decals for machines from Vietnam, China and North Korea.
The MiG-17 was a Soviet jet fighter that followed on from the MiG-15 with a new wing, a lengthened fuselage and a more powerful engine; the F version received an afterburner. The aircraft was also built under license outside the Soviet Union, in China as the Shenyang J-5. These machines made their name in many conflicts of the Cold War, above all in the Vietnam War as an agile opponent of modern American fighters.
Use liquid cement for plastic and bond the photo-etched parts with super glue. Finish and paint the cockpit and the exhaust interior before closing the fuselage. Mask the canopy glazing. Apply a primer before the finish and lay the paint down with an airbrush; natural metal or gray-green schemes come alive on a smooth base. Fit the movable flaps, airbrakes and external stores only after the base coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
